Ultrasonic testing uses high frequency ultrasonic waves to measure thickness, detect surface & internal flaws of a material. Ultrasonic waves introduced into the test object then returns to a receiver when it reflects off an internal imperfection or from the backwall surface. The imperfection or thickness is determined by the echo that is returned.

Advantage
  • It is highly accurate in determining reflector position and estimating size and shape.

  • Only single-sided access is needed when the pulse-echo technique is used.

  • It is highly accurate in determining reflector position and estimating size and shape.
